Bisque Head Uncle Sam Character Doll – Cuno & Otto Dressel Doll. Bisque head Uncle Sam Character doll, impressed on the back of the head with the mark, ‘S1’. Attributed to being a German late 19th to early 20th century doll, Cuno & Otto Dressel doll, for their portrait series. Note the sleeping brown glass eyes, well-defined rope like gray painted eye brows, strong character modeling, closed smiling mouth with protruding lower jaw, deep furrows around mouth and eyes, gray mohair wig and matching goatee. Fully jointed composition body, blue felt cut away coat, white stars on a blue background cotton vest, red and white striped cotton trousers, with black stockings and black leatherette shoes. Matching felt top hat with red, blue and white hat band. 14” high to the top of the hat, 13” high with hat off. This Uncle Sam doll was purchased as a pair along with an A&M Betsy Ross Character doll, who is also dressed in patriotic clothing.
