Antique Tin & Wood Foot Warmer Box – Pierced Design

This is an early primitive tin lined foot warmer and comes with a wire handle and tin pierced sides. Notice that there are even hearts pierced in the sides of this warmer. This box measures 9″ x 7 1/2″ and look at the corners that are dove tailed together. The door has a latch that you can move in a circular movement to open and close. In the reference book, ‘Primitives & Folk Art our handmade heritage’ by Catherine Thuro on page 47 there is a picture and short description of a tin and wood foot warmer that looks very similar to this same foot warmer that I have. The book notes that this type of foot warmer was both home and factory made.
