Antique Country Store Fairbank’s No. 2 Scale with Weights and Support Board – 1896

This is a complete and unique Fairbank’s country store scale that comes along with the original custom formed wooden tray that secures and supports the scale and the weights. Notice the raised lettering that reads, ‘Fairbanks’ and ‘No.2’ and then on the center brace there is a patent date that reads, ‘Mch 3, 1896’. So March 3, 1896. This is great find to have a complete scale and this wooden form which one knows for sure is original to this scale. The wooden form measures 15 1/2″ wide at the widest point and is 13 1/2″ deep. Notice the beveled edge on this wooden form. The extra weights are a 4 pound, two 2 pound weights, and one 1 pound weight. The moveable weight that is attached to the scale its self will weigh up to 16 pounds, and then you have the extra weights that are listed above. The tray for placing the items you are weighing measures 18 1/2″ long by 9 1/2″ wide and is approximately 5″ high. The cast iron scale is approximately 13 1/2″ wide on the base by 6″ deep. This is a great old antique country store scale and we have never seen the wooden custom made form before with all the other scales we have had in the past.
