Antique Glass Figural Rabbit Candy Container – AVOR

Antique all original glass candy container that depicts a full-figured rabbit or bunny. This piece has raised lettering that reads, USA around the base and on the opposite side reads, ‘1 oz. AVOR’. What is extra nice is that this container still has the original screw on lid that was original to this candy container, but they are so often missing. Both on the bottom of the lid and written on a small paper inside the rabbit there is the story that tells that this rabbit candy container was given to a 10-year-old girl named Betty, for Easter one year from her parents. The note inside states that this was in the early 1920’s and that two other girls, named Eva & Velma received candy containers as well. The original candy is long gone, but inside someone has stuffed hard plastic type floral cherries to add color from the inside of the container along with the note that states, that the cherries Betty had on a hat about the same time, so she placed them inside this empty candy container. We didn’t want to remove the cherries after all these years and to still have them there along with this original note! The container measures 5 1/4″ high and the base is 2″ diameter. What a fun all original glass rabbit candy dish with a personal handwritten note that expresses the love that this piece once helped to demonstrate.
