This walking stick was given as a gift and it reads, ‘From First Gold Baptist Church – St. Joe, Missouri’ and on the top of the gold handle it reads, ‘F.O. Hill – August 8, 1886’. This walking stick would have appeared to have been a gift to Mr Hill. Note that the walking stick or cane is metal capped on the bottom with wooden base and then this fancy inscribed gold metal top. There is also the impressed letters of ‘R.F.S.B. Co.’ for Rest Fenner Smith & Co. makers of fine gold and silver-headed walking sticks, salesroom at 701 Broadway, New York.
