This is a remarkable piece of marked history which would have unbelievable stories to share if only possible. This is an early 1880’s fireman’s leather water bucket which has a brown leather exterior covering and a green interior with rivet type closures to secure the bucket along with a leather wrapped handle with iron rings that secure the handle to the bucket. Notice the personalized stenciled lettering on this bucket that reads, ‘Jos. Wilder – G.V.’ We were told that this bucket came from the Joliet, Illinois area and was purchased locally there from a from a home. This bucket measures 13″ high to the outer edge and to the top of the handle is 18 1/2″ high when handle fully extended up. The top of bucket has a diameter of 9″ while the bottom is 5 3/4″ diameter. This is an exceptional piece that you will not want to miss adding to your collection. If you collect early fireman’s equipment, then this is definitely a piece to consider.
