Antique cast iron Leap Frog Mechanical Toy Coin Bank. Circa 1890’s. Working condition in very good original paint. Shepard Hardware Company out of Buffalo, NY made this bank. This bank measures 7 1/2″ long by 3 3/4″ deep by 5 1/4″ high. The movement of this bank makes you smile. One places the coin at a slanted position resting in the top slot and then you make certain that the boy standing is in the far back position before one depresses the lever on the backside that triggers the release and the boy in the back position then leaps over the stationary boy that is in a squatting position, while the coin then is dropped as the boy that is leaping, his hand triggers the extended lever that is extending downward on the tree. This is an excellent original cast iron mechanical coin bank that you will not want to miss adding to your own personal collection.
