Buddy Lee Dolls, the trademark of clothing maker H.D. Lee Co. Inc. were manufactured from 1920 to 1963. The doll was first made of composition plaster, which was easily broken. By the late 1940’s, it was made of hard plastic. The doll’s mold was changed in 1949, when his legs were thinned and bowed to look more like a bowlegged cowboy with pants on. Thinner legs also made him easier to dress. Lee clothed their Buddy Lee dolls in all types of Lee Denim jean uniforms and work clothing, such as a cowboy, engineer, gas station attendant, Coca-Cola delivery man, etc. Accessories were made elsewhere.
