W205B Antique Swiss Music Box Plays 10 Tunes
What an exceptional find to be able to offer this all original Swiss music box that is still in working order and all complete with it's original winding crack. There is ten different tunes or melodies that this music box plays and notice the fancy attached paper 'Programme' that tells the names of the tunes. The tunes are, 1) 'H. Trovatore (Anvil Chorus) by Verdi, 2) 'Sa Norma (Hear Me Norma) by Bellini 3) 'Rigoletto' (La Dona) by Verdi 4) Carmen (Song of the Flouador) by Bizer 5) Bohemian Girl ( I Dream) by Balfe 6) Logengrin (Bridal Chorus) by Wagner 7) Nanon (Waltz) by Genee 8) The Black Hussar (Marsch) by Millocker 9) The Gondoliers (Gavotte) by Sullivan 10) The Poor Jonathan (Waltz) Millocker. Notice the very detailed drawings of the little cupids with musical instruments or dancing cupids all around the decorative program. This music box measures 19 1/2" wide 9" deep and it stands 6 3/4" high. The top of the box is decorated with a partial stenciled floral decoration. On the actual music box mechanism that is the stop and play lever there is patent dates and they are, 'Sept. 22, 1885', 'Dec. 6, 1887', 'Mar. 8, 1888', and the initials, 'D.R.P. 33516' - 43585'. There is a second lever on this music box that allows you to choose if you want the songs to repeat or change. There is also a lever on the interior that reads, 'Jacot's Patented Safety Check Sept. 22, 1886'. This is an excellent all original find and what a treasure to still be working after all these years. This dark finish case is a very fitting finish to store this very nice Swiss music box. Don't miss adding this great find to your own personal antique music box collections.
