Q013B  Blue & White Quilt 1895 Friendship Chain Pattern

This beautiful quilt measures 76" x 84". This quilt was made in 1895 and never has been used or washed. The condition of the quit is outstanding and has very fine stitching with nine stitches per inch quilting. This pieced quilt has been made in the pattern name of Friendship Chain. A unique fact about this particular quilt is that we still have the providence on this quilt that goes as follows:
This quilt was given to Rose Sturdevant on her graduation from high school in 1896. Cornelia Newton Sturdevant's was Rose's mother and Rose was the mother of Mrs. Lucile Thompson Rudde Peterson of Gothenburg. The maker of this quilt was the great-grandmother of Lucile.
Rose Sturdevant was a school teacher in Holt County Nebraska and her father was a photographer at Atkinson, Nebraska. Rose married a Mr. Thompson (a dentist) and together they settled in Gothenburg in 1904 and raised their family, Lucile was their daughter. The quilt was purchased from Lucile, August 3, 1992 at her residence in Gothenburg, Nebraska. -  SOLD
