Q012A Blue & White Whirligig Variation Quilt
This is an old blue and white quilt which pattern name I think resembles the Whirligig or pinwheel pattern in quilt designs. This quilt has a variation to the pattern, from what I see displayed in my quilt books. This quilt has nice even eight stitches per inch quilting. It appears to me that the blue and white pieced quilt blocks could have been assembled earlier and then stored aside for some time. The reason that I state this point is if you will look closely at the white fabric in this quilt there is two different fabric types used. The white fabric next to the blue fabric has a yellow tinge, and the appearance of earlier fabric. Notice that the outer edging on this quilt is a different and lighter blue colored fabric. This quilt measures 69 1/2" x 78" and the condition is very good all original condition. No tears or holes. Circa late 1920's is our estimation on this quilt. This quilt with the blue and white color combination has endless possibilities in your decorating ideas. This quilt came from the Albany, Missouri area.
