Q008A   Child's Baby Quilt  - Animals

This is a very nice old child's quilt that is done in a soft color combination of green and yellow squares. Each yellow square features an embroidered animal. There is a different animal in each square; giraffe, bear, elephant, rooster, horse, rabbit, kangaroo, squirrel, cow, cat, duck, penguin, donkey, cheetah, camel, dog, pig, and sheep. On the yellow block with the embroidered bear there is a faded number printed in the fabric. This number is 2579, maybe this was the transfer for the embroidery pattern that mistakenly was transferred onto the yellow fabric. We have taken a closeup photo to show you. This number is not even noticeable at first glance. The yellow blocks measure 6 1/2" x 6 1/2". The condition is good, the quilt has been used, but is in no way worn out. There is three or more places on the quilt where the top fabric has small holes, but there is no places where the there is holes completely through the quilt. Again, this quilt has a bit of a worn look in places, but that only attests to it's age and adds to the character of the quilt. There are a few spots, or dirtiness to this quilt, but as with all of my antique quilts, I have never washed it, but you certainly can. (I think the dirty look would wash right out of this quilt). I hate to try washing it before one sews the little holes or secures them. The quilting is very even and nice. The stitches are 6 to 7 stitches per inch, and the quilting pattern is that of flowering vein design. What is great about this quilt is that it still has life left in it to be used on a small child's bed, yet it isn't so expensive that you are afraid to use it there. I also have a second quilt that I got with this one, and that quilt has been done in a soft blue and white color combination. This quilt measures 48" x 61" in overall size. Again, a great wall hanging for a child's or babies room or this quilt would work great to use to wrap up in when rocking a child or used as a bedspread. - SOLD
