P072B Civil War Battle of Chickamauga Litho
This is a neat old picture of the Battle of Chickamauga with General Rosecrans and General Thomas with the Troops September 19,
1863.
This was Presented by T.B.S. Spencer, S.P. Davis, W. C. Eaton, G.W. Quimby, Jake Anderson, S. W. Davis, to there local McCaslin Post No.117 G.A.R. (Grand Republic of the Republic)
This litho was done by The Strobridge Litho Company Cincinnati, New York & London. Measures from outside of frame 31" x 43". There is some wear on the litho.
This was purchased from Ginny's Antiques in Leavenworth, Kansas. Who bought from the estate of U. S. District Judge Arthur Stanley, who was a federal judge in Leavenworth who died at the age of 99 in the year 2001.
McCaslin Post No. 117 is located in Miami County, in the town of Paola, Kansas.
I I found this interesting information about this Society note that two of the original founders Quimby and Eaton were presentors to there Post.. 3 of the six names I have found to be Cival War Vetrans listed on the 1885 Rooster of the McCaslin Post.
McCaslin Post, G. A. R., No 117 was organized August 25, 1882, by Col. W. B. Shockley. The following were the officers installed: W. C. Easton, P. C.; Thos. M. Carroll, Sr., P. C.; H. H. Patten, Jr., P. C.; Amos Potter, surgeon; J. R. Cartwright, chaplain; J. C. Taylor, Q. M.; D. C. Goodrich, Ajt.; E. M. Wickersham, O. D.; Dillwyn Parker, Q. M. sergeant; C. C. Proctor, S. M.; George Quimby, O. G.
