This antique print that is dated 1903 depicts a young woman with a rowing scull oar in her hand along with a pillow that has the large letter 'Y', perhaps for the college 'Yale' where rowing competition or sculling were known to be very popular. This black and white drawing are signed in the lower right hand corner, 'J.V. McFall - 1903 - Copyright 1903 - By Lensworth Gross'. This young woman is grasping the oar in such a way that it would appear to me that she in deed is the athlete that is preparing herself for a competition. Notice the dog that is right at her side. The frame around this print measures 17 3/4" x 21 3/4". If you collect Victorian sports drawings and or pictures then you will not want to miss adding this fine piece to your own personal collection. Wooden oak frame that has a darker black finish.
