M149C Dog Tray Cast Iron Nut Cracker
Excellent all original condition on this cast iron dog nut cracker. Notice that on the red bottom plate there is embossed lettering that reads, 'Dog Tray Nut Cracker'. This dog appears to be done in the shape of a larger dog, and reminds me of a St. Bernard dog. This nut cracker is operated when you raise the dog's tail causing the dog's mouth to open and you place the nut inside the dog's mouth, at that time you then lower the handle (dog's tail) to crack the nut. The bottom plate measures 9 1/4" x 2 3/4" wide and the height of the entire nut cracker is 6 1/4" high, and also note that the longest measurement of this nut cracker is 13" long. On the very bottom of the metal plate there is the following information 'Harper Supply Co. - No. Chicago - Pat. Apld. For'. For fun someone has wrote in white letters the word, 'Bow-wow'.
