G651C  Mettlach Stein #2583 with Egyptian Hieroglyphic Symbols

This is a rare and hard to find all original Mettlach Stein number 2583 decorated with Egyptian Hieroglyphic symbols. This is a taller stein that measures 8 1/4" high to the top of the metal attachment which lifts the lid. Notice this metal attachment which encircles the pottery lid and then the opposite end attaches to the pottery handle on the stein, and there is a hinge in the middle which allows the lid to be raised and lowered. There is a figural face done in the metal work where you place your finger to raise the lid. Remarkable hieroglyphic symbols decorate this stein and there is a story being told as you circle around the stein. The bottom of the stein is marked, 'Mettlach' and the number '2583' is also impressed into the bottom. Excellent original condition. This stein is identified in Kirsner reference book for Mettlach on page 115. - $1395.
