G229B Blue & White Stoneware Pitcher Grapes
This is an exceptional all original blue and white stoneware pitcher with an excellent molded design of a cluster of grapes on either side of the pitcher. This pitcher is referred to as, 'Grape with
Rick Rack pitcher' on page 16 in the reference book, 'Stoneware in the Blue and White, - by M.H. Alexander'. Note the zig zag design that borders the pitcher on the top and bottom for an attractive design that borders the grid or 'Rickrack' design background. The description in the book refers to this pitcher as, 'having a grape design on a small square waffle background. Banded by inverted pyramids both on the top and bottom. Bottom glazed. Star on bottom identifies manufacturer as the Northstar Stoneware Company, Red Wing Minnesota.' North Star company was before Red Wing, Circa 1892 - 1896. This pitcher stands 8" high, from the spout to the opposite handle it is 7" wide and the diameter on the bottom is 5 1/2" diameter. Again, on the very bottom of the pitcher there is an impressed 'Star' on the bottom, for the North Star signature. All original very good condition. The top opening is approximately 4 1/4" diameter. Again excellent coloring on this blue and white stoneware pitcher.
