G054B Yellow Vertique Model B Aladdin Lamp
G058B Yellow Vertique Model B lamp Sold in 1938
This is the yellow moonstone vertique Aladdin lamp that was manufactured in 1938. The moonstone name denotes the way the glass appears to glow like the light of the moon, and the name Vertique refers to the vertical ridges of the bowl. There are a couple of unique characteristics to these Aladdin lamps. One is the intense glow the "yellow" Vertique displays under a black light. This is due to the use of uranium as a coloring agent in the glass. This is similar to Vaseline glass. This vertically ribbed glass lamp was available in yellow, white, rose and jade green moonstone art glass. The bowl is joined to the foot with a brass connector. This particular lamp came from a local sale in the Macom, Missouri area. Exceptional all original condition on the base and burner, the shade does have the name 'Aladdin' on the tall shade, I can't guarantee that this is the old shade I have seen these reproduced. The shade is correct for this Aladdin lamp we do know. This lamp measures 24 1/2" high, the base has a diameter of 6 1/2". Notice on the knob to raise and lower the wick there is information that reads, 'Mantle Lamp Co. - Nu-type Model B - Aladdin - Patents Pending - Made in USA - Chicago, Illinois'. I currently have a pair of these yellow lamps in my inventory and I would sell them for $1,695.00 for the pair. With this lamp I have an Aladdin Lox-on Mantle still in it's original box. There is a little hole that has been torn into the screen on this mantle. Still a nice find to have the original box with this mantle.
