G030B Galle Vase Cameo Art Glass Scenic 18 1/2"
Majestic and Impressive are two words that quickly come to mind when your eyes see this 18 1/2" high Galle signed cameo art glass vase. The scene on this vase depicts a nature woodland like scene with a river and stone bridge extending over the water, and a hunched back old gentleman with cane in hand proceeding over the bridge. Exceptional details in this fine two colored cameo art glass vase. Yellow and dark purple color tones. The fluted opening on this tall vase measures 3 1/2" in diameter and the base is 7" in diameter. Exceptional piece of cameo.
We were thrilled to be able to acquire this piece from the Alvin & Margaret Schmidt Estate Auction. The Schmidt's were from Waterloo, Iowa. Here is a note that was listed on the auction sale bill concerning the Schmidt's. 'There are very few collections that equal what Margaret and her late husband Alvin Schmidt of Iowa have collected. For many years, the Schmidt's have managed to collect some of the most attractive antiques available. Their obvious goal was to find items in excellent condition with a wide variety of interest. We believe they succeeded in both. Their auction has some special highlights that include, reverse painted lamps, quality French Cameo, WaveCrest, Art Glass, Nippon, and nearly 700 more lots of various antiques.'
