F732B  Tete A Tete Oak Courting Bench

This is a very unusual quarter sawn oak bench that is done in the style referred to as a Tet A Tet Bench. Notice how there is two places for people to sit on this bench and instead of sitting in the traditional position of side by side looking out the same way, with this bench you still sit side by side but you are looking in opposite directions. Almost an 'S' design comes out when you look at this bench.  This bench has been referred to as being a conversation bench or a courting bench.  The back's of the seats have a carved scrolling design with a floral theme in the lower part of the backs and the top is a wider support to give a strong seat. This bench measures 43" wide, and the seats are both 19" deep and each is 22" wide for sitting. From the floor the seats are 16 1/2" high, and the bench overall is 35 1/2" high. This is an exceptional piece of quality American oak. Circa 1900's. - SOLD
