CRK001  Oak Bedroom Set - 3 pieces

This is a Victorian Style three piece oak bedroom set made at the turn of the century (1900). All three pieces are of quarter sawn oak skillfully refinished to accent the oak grain. All brass hardware is original to this set. The 3-piece set consists of a high back headboard bed, mirrored dresser and commode with towel bar. Legs on all three pieces are shaped; original casters on all 3 pieces.

The high back headboard measures 78” high; bed width is full size measuring 54” x 75”. Original wooden bed rails. The headboard is ornamented with a fleur-de-lis design crown over a full width rounded 4” scroll. At each end the molding is mated to a 5-fingered curved finial. A soft ribbon applied carving swag 40” wide is centered on the headboard. The footboard is 37” high, decorated with an applied wooden swag 16” wide, has carved posts and follows the rounded molding of the headboard.

The design crown, scroll and finial are also accented on the matching dresser. The dresser measures 43” wide by 20” front to back, 72” to top of mirror. Original mirror is shaped, beveled and swivels front to back on original hidden brackets attached to extended arms. The mirror is very clear and appears to be in excellent condition. The top two side by side drawers measure 16”W x 16” front to back and 5” deep. The bottom two drawers extend the width of the dresser and are 7” deep. All four drawers are of dovetail construction at the front and with original wooden dowels at the rear, no screws. All four drawers open and close easily. The dresser has 2” wide panel supports on each side as ornamentation, as is found on the high headboard and which ties in with the commode construction.

The commode measures 32” wide, 18” front to back, 30” to surface top, add another 25” to top of towel bar. Commode has three drawers and one side storage originally used for chamber pot storage. Top drawer is commode wide, 14” front to back x 4” deep, two side drawers are 14”W x 14” front to back and 6” deep. Side storage is 11” wide, 14” high and 14” deep. Solid construction; serpentine style fronts both the dresser and commode. 

This set was purchased and used on a small central Wisconsin farm. The set was passed to the next generation and the next, now it’s ready for a new owner.
